Active Release Technique (A.R.T.)

A.R.T. is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based manual
technique that addresses inflexible/scarred muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia
and the soft tissues surrounding entrapped nerves. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and
Sciatic pain would be examples of this.
These changes occur in the above mentioned tissues due to:
• Acute conditions related to pulls, tears, and collisions.
• Accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma).
• Tissues not receiving adequate oxygen (hypoxia).
These factors create tough, dense scar tissue in the affected areas. Soft tissue is
designed to move freely. Scarring binds up and ties down tissue, which can
create:
• Muscle weakness.
• Tendonitis.
• Numbness and tingling (nerve entrapment).
A.R.T. and neuromuscular re-education therapy breaks down these adhesions,
allowing for normal gliding of tissues.
